Good to know

What's the difference between the download and the printed book?

The Digital Download is a high-resolution PDF of the whole book, sent by email right after checkout. Print it at home on any paper you like. The Printed Book is a finished copy, bound and shipped to your door.

How do I get my PDF?

You'll get an email with a secure download link as soon as your order is placed. The same link is in your order confirmation. If it doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder or write to us.

Can I print pages more than once?

Yes. Your PDF is for personal use, so print a favorite page as many times as you like and try a new palette each time. We just ask that you don't share or resell the file.

What paper works best for printing at home?

A smooth, heavier paper, such as cardstock or 32 lb paper, takes colored pencil and marker well and won't bleed. Watercolor paper works too if your printer can handle it.

Where do you ship printed books?

We ship printed books within the United States. Shipping costs and delivery estimates are shown at checkout.

Are these good for gifts?

They're made for it. A printed book is a thoughtful gift for graduates, alumni, retirees, and anyone who's just moved to town. A digital copy is a good last-minute gift.

Are you affiliated with the University of North Carolina?

No. Places in Ink is an independent studio. Our books celebrate public places and landmarks through original illustration. They aren't affiliated with or endorsed by any university, club, or park service.

Can I suggest a place?

Please do. Use the Nominate a place form on our home page. Your suggestions help us decide what to draw next.
